Helping Each Other Out

ACROSS BALTIMORE, PEOPLE ARE TRYING TO MAKE LIFE A LITTLE EASIER FOR THEIR FAMILIES AND THEIR NEIGHBORS DURING THE PANDEMIC
COVID-19 began disrupting our lives in March and hasn’t let up. Schools, stores, restaurants, offices all began to shut down. For people who still had jobs, going to work suddenly seemed risky. Everyone else felt the stress of isolating at home. More than 5,000 Marylanders have died, with more than 600 of those deaths in Baltimore.
But in communities across Baltimore, residents looked for ways to help each other get through. In some neighborhoods, residents have made efforts to keep their neighbors’ spirits up -- maybe online, maybe in person but socially distant. Volunteers are raising money and cooking more meals than ever for people in need. And in some households, oldest children find themselves at home and doing more to help their siblings and parents.
