Members of the Maryland General Assembly Legislative Black Caucus, upset by the failure of one of their top priorities in the closing minutes of the just-ended 90-day session are now calling for passage of that legislation and demanding the governor and legislative leaders call a special session to do that. The bill would expand the number of licensed growers in state’s medical marijuana program by adding five growers to add diversity which the caucus says is currently lacking.

A military plane crashes in Prince George’s County
Shortly after takeoff from Joint Base Andrews, an F-16 plane on its way to conduct routine training in Pennsylvania experienced a mechanical problem and crashed in a wooded area between two neighborhoods. There were no reported injuries on the ground and the pilot, who has not been identified, safely ejected and landed about a mile from the crash.

Governor Hogan signs fracking ban into law
Governor Larry Hogan signs legislation to ban fracking on Tuesday, making Maryland the third state in the county to do so.
